WordPress 4.7.2 was released on January 26, 2017. This is a security release for all previous versions. Versions 4.7.1 and earlier are affected by three security issues. If you have not yet done so, I strongly encourage you to update your site, along with the plugins, immediately.
Well… I upgraded WordPress and now my site is messed up!
If you do the upgrade and then notice that your site no longer looks right (i.e. Sidebars inserted where they’re not supposed to be, or showing up on the wrong side of your pages), relax — your new funky layout was most likely caused by an outdated version of the Genesis Framework; Providing you’re using Genesis. If your site is not built on the Genesis Framework, then look to a plugin conflict. I’ve seen this happen on sites using the Auto Upgrade option (which I don’t recommend using).
If your site is built on the Genesis framework, BEFORE you upgrade WordPress, check to see which version of Genesis you’re using. If it’s older than the latest version (2.4.2) be SURE to upgrade that FIRST. Then do your plugin(s) and WordPress upgrades.
