We are committed to providing a fully accessible website experience for all users of all abilities, including those who rely on assistive technologies like screen readers, screen enlargement software, and alternative keyboard input devices to navigate the web.
Ongoing Efforts to Ensure Accessibility
Website accessibility is an ongoing process. Testing of our website is performed by using industry-standard online Web Accessibility tools. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 is the guiding principle for determining accessibility. These are internationally agreed-upon standards that cover a wide range of recommendations and best practices for making content useable.
As we add new pages and functionality to our website, content is checked against these standards for:
- color contrast that’s sufficient according to WCAG,
- proper heading tags for titles,
- proper use of “alt” tags in images,
- hyperlinks have descriptive text,
- Call to Action buttons have an accessible name,
- keyboard-only navigation techniques,
- Flesch-Kincaid readability tests.
Please note that while we make every effort to provide information accessible for all users, there is no single checklist that one can follow or automate to ensure 100% accessibility of all features on this website, or of third party software (i.e. plugins) installed on this site. There are three levels of WCAG conformance: A, AA, and AAA. WordPress core files targets WCAG 2.1 at level AA as the standard for development.
